The Music City Tennis Invitational (MCTI) was founded in 1973 by Wesley Rose, Helen Farmer and others to promote camaraderie among tennis enthusiasts in the music industry while raising funds for charity.

This event benefits the Center for Child Development CCD) at Monroe Carell Jr. Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital. Begun in 1975, CCD's primary concern is providing screening, evaluation and referral services for children who are developmentally delayed; who are experiencing a wide range of problems such as learning difficulties, autism, mental retardation, attention deficit hyperactivity disorders, and delays in sitting, talking, walking and more.

The public is invited to join recording artists, songwriters, music publishers, record company executives and industry professionals along with tennis players from all over the country. The tournament is open to everyone, beginners to pros, and provides doubles team tennis for players of all levels. (Players under age 18 need Tournament Director approval.)
